Two decades later in 1984 the third and fourth generation officers of K. M. Biggs, Incorporated made the decision to downsize its retail operations and focus its resources on building more rentable space. On April 12 1984, the company announced its plans to construct “Biggs Park Mall” on the site of Biggs Park. Demolition started that year. Biggs Park Mall opened in 1985 and included Belk, J.C. Penney, Leder Brothers, Winn Dixie, and Eckerd Drug Stores among others.
Today K. M. Biggs, Incorporated is proudly managed by the fourth and fifth generation descendants of its founder and namesake. Its principal business is the acquisition and management of commercial, agricultural, and timber property. It owns properties leased to retail names like Advance Auto Parts, Bojangles, Dollar General, Hardees, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Waffle House in addition to medical and office space. Biggs Park Mall is still owned by the descendants of the Biggs family and is still home to JC Penny and Belk.
